5/3/2023 0 Comments Lauren G.This is our second birth with Carla and we are still amazed! Carla was so attentive, kept me focused and most importantly made me feel safe and confident in my ability to push this baby out! This time around was really quick and we almost didn't make it to the hospital. Carla kept me calm on the trip over to the hospital and with her help, I delivered naturally with only a few pushes within a half an hour of arriving. Her calm and grounding presence in the room allowed me to surrender to the process, something that was so hard for me the first time around. I highly recommend Carla! I could not have done this without her!

She is friendly, down to earth, caring, and speaks from her own experience as a mother and grandmother - as well as a doula. We first had a phone interview, and she was watching her grandchild at the time. It was very relaxing how she was able to calmly juggle answering my questions and talk to me while simultaneously caring for her tiny loved one. I could already tell that was the kind of energy I needed through my pregnancy, labor, and delivery. I also liked that she is an EMT and had added emergency and healthcare experience, and I found her pricing and packages to be fair!
Carla has been wonderful! I had difficulties getting to this successful pregnancy, was 40 when pregnant, and had some very painful physical challenges in my third trimester (that turned out to be a herniated discs in my neck). That resulted in quite a bit of anxiety for me, and Carla was always readily available to answer my many questions and calm my concerns by text, email, or phone - and quickly! She even dropped what she was doing once to come over and help me through some very painful spasms - with massage and reiki. She gave my husband and me a helpful overview of labor and delivery, comfort techniques, and what to expect in our pre-natal visit. She helped me navigate high blood pressure, severe swelling, and what we thought at the time was a pinched nerve in my back - all of which resulted in some pressure for me to induce early when I did not want to. When it came to labor, she provided me with suggestions for alternative methods to limit the interactions I did not want, so we were able to apply some non-pharmacological methods to induce. I felt comfortable with my decisions and our team approach with the nurses and doctors at the hospital! At our postnatal visits at home, Carla brought me very helpful tools, a lovely book and gift, and even made us a homemade dinner! She has continued to offer me very helpful guidance and support, and perhaps most importantly, encouragement along the way. I very highly recommend her, and I’m grateful she and I shared this experience. 3/28/2019 1 Comment Nicole T. - TestimonialI was so excited to work with Carla from the moment we met. She made me feel instantly comfortable and at ease. Our prenatal meeting was so helpful for my husband and I and she supplied us with great materials to help us plan the birth. Sadly things did not go according to plan as I had to have an unplanned c-section after 2 ECVs. During that highly stressful time, Carla was our rock, helping us to make difficult decisions and ensuring us that we were doing our best and that we were making the best choices to bring our baby into the world (something that I really wish I had with my first birth experience). Having a neutral and calm professional who was extremely knowledgeable helped me avoid what could have been a very traumatic experience. She also stayed after the surgery to help us adjust, and the postpartum visits were lovely as well. I would hire her again a thousand times! Highly recommended.
3/28/2018 0 Comments Michelle F.Carla helped me through all 3 of my pregnancies. For my last I was 42 and very nervous because of my age. She was a pillar of support and guidance through my whole pregnancy. Maybe it was because there were so many years between my 2nd and my third, but I felt like a first time mom almost. She was there when I needed her and was my advocate during my daughter's birth. I was glad my husband was there with me but in the end Carla was the most helpful to me because she knew exactly what I was experiencing. She was helpful, compassionate, empathetic but most of all a rock of support from pregnancy through birth. I would highly recommend her to any expecting mother.
9/29/2017 0 Comments Conner R. - TestimonialMy name is Conner R., and I am mother to a beautiful boy named Hunter. My dear friend Carla Ward was with me through every step of my pregnancy, and even four years later, still coaches me through motherhood with my toddler.
While I was pregnant, I was working full time and found it difficult to manage normal pregnancy events. Carla helped me through the process by going to my OBGYN appointments with me and helping me figure out the next step I wanted to take. This helped greatly with my anxiety in general, as well as being a new mom and not having a lot of family around at the time. Her presence, coaching, and emotional support at that time was, and still is, invaluable to me and to my husband. Although I had planned for a non-medicated, vaginal birth, as per Carla’s sage advice, not everything went as planned, and together we went to St. Peter’s in New Brunswick so that I could be induced. As before, Carla was with me for every step and doctor, explaining the process and translating to me what needed to happen when and for what reason. She honored all of my requests to the best of her abilities, whether it was bouncing on the ball during painful contractions or finally getting that very-much-needed epidural and sleeping peacefully… for me at least. She was the perfect ambassador between me and the hospital doctors. Carla also guided my husband through his role and responsibilities as well. She coached him on how to help me when she was on her way over, she also reached out to him for updates when I was unavailable. While we were in the hospital, they were able to come up with a plan for post-partum care that we were confident in following through. After Hunter was born, she coached me on how to nurse him and most importantly, on self-care and how I can be healthy and active after the birth. She even brought my best friends and a special cake to have a quiet party to celebrate Hunters first day Earth-side. Carla continued to guide my husband and I through many of the ups and down that first-time parents go through: coughs and colds, allergies, falls, spills and everything related to having a child. Without her, I would have been up a creek without a paddle. I was able to entrust my childbirth experience to Carla because she is skilled, competent, and most importantly, she cares. She cares that each woman has not only a safe and healthy childbirth, but a genuinely fulfilling experience. She is educated in the matters of child birthing, as well as post-partum care and what needs to happen in order to have a truly meaningful child birth experience. She also has the understanding of what it takes to see women through such an ordeal. She is calm and level-headed, as well as tender and devoted to her passion. I am truly grateful for her and satisfied with all of my memories of bringing my son into this world knowing that I relied on her. |
